Castles, vineyards and classic Rhine views
Why we loved it
RĆ¼desheim feels made for motorhome touring. The river is always close by, the vineyard slopes frame almost every view and there is a wonderful mix of easy sightseeing and scenic driving. It is the kind of place where you can spend the morning on the waterfront, the afternoon visiting a castle or viewpoint, and the evening relaxing back at the campsite with a glass of local wine.
What stood out most was how varied the days felt without needing to cover huge distances. Cable cars, river cruises, castle viewpoints and quiet lanes through the vines all sit within easy reach, making this one of the most rewarding bases on the route.

- Worth the visit? Absolutely.
- Would we return? Yes, especially for a longer Rhine touring loop.
- Best for? Castles, river scenery and relaxed sightseeing.

Enzklƶsterle
Forest roads, waterfalls and peaceful touring
Why we loved it
Enzklƶsterle gave us the slower, greener side of Germany that we had hoped to find. The roads through the Black Forest are scenic without being stressful, and the area feels wonderfully calm after busier river towns. It is a brilliant base for forest walks, waterfall stops and unhurried driving days.
We especially enjoyed how easy it was to mix active days with relaxed evenings. One day could be all about viewpoints and waterfalls, while the next was simply about enjoying the campsite setting and the atmosphere of the forest around us.

- Worth the visit? Yes, especially if you enjoy scenic driving.
- Would we return? Without hesitation.
- Best for? Nature, walking and peaceful campsites.

Konstanz
Lake views, cycling and easy touring days
Why we loved it
Konstanz brought a completely different feel to the trip. After the forests and river valleys, the wide-open lake, cycle paths and elegant waterfront made everything feel lighter and more relaxed. It is one of those destinations where you can stay active all day without ever feeling rushed.
Mainau Island, the lakeside promenades and the easy access to nearby towns all helped make this a superb final stop before continuing into Austria. It felt polished, scenic and very easy to enjoy from a motorhome base.
