Travel Guide
Discover Switzerland: A Motorhome Paradise
Switzerland combines dramatic mountain scenery, spotless campsites, easy-to-love towns and some of the most memorable touring roads we have driven. It is the kind of destination where every stop feels different, whether you are standing beside a thunderous waterfall, cycling into a lakeside city or waking up beneath alpine peaks.
What made this journey special for us was the balance between adventure and practicality. We could park up, slow the pace down and explore properly, often by bike, while still enjoying the freedom that comes with travelling in our Roller Team motorhome.

🏔 Mountain Adventures
Alpine roads, panoramic viewpoints and unforgettable mountain backdrops make Switzerland feel built for scenic touring.
💦 Natural Wonders
From Rhine Falls to lakeside promenades and dramatic valley scenery, nature is never far away in Switzerland.
🚲 Our Way Of Exploring
We found cycling was one of the best ways to explore Swiss towns without moving the motorhome.
🐕 Travelling With Mia
Dog-friendly walks, parks and lakeside routes made Switzerland feel welcoming for slower, more relaxed adventures with Mia.

Rhine Falls

Our Motorhome Visit
We spent two nights at Camping Rässenwies, which gave us an excellent base for exploring Rhine Falls. It was one of those stops that worked brilliantly for a short stay, giving us time to enjoy the power of the falls, wander the surrounding viewpoints and take in one of Switzerland’s most dramatic natural attractions without feeling rushed.
The falls themselves are far more impressive in person than photographs suggest. The noise, spray and sheer force of the water make it feel like a proper event rather than just a sightseeing stop, and there is enough around the area to turn it into a memorable motorhome base rather than a quick photo stop.
Camping Rässenwies
- Stayed: 2 nights
- Our experience: Friendly owner, clean site, good location.
- Exploring: Originally planned to cycle but visited by motorhome.
- Would we return? Yes

Nearby Attraction: Laufen Castle
Historic views over the falls, elevated walkways and one of the best ways to appreciate the scale of the water from above.
Our Thoughts
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely worth visiting. Avoid weekends if possible as it becomes very busy.

Lucerne
★★★★★
TCS Camping Luzern-Horw gave us a comfortable base for exploring one of Switzerland’s most enjoyable cities. Being able to leave the motorhome parked and cycle roughly 6km into Lucerne made the whole visit feel easy, relaxed and far more enjoyable than trying to drive into the centre.
Lucerne blends history and scenery beautifully. Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument, Lake Lucerne, the Transport Museum and Musegg Wall all help create a city that feels interesting without being overwhelming, and it works especially well for a slower motorhome stop.

Camping Lazy Rancho 4 was one of our favourite stays in Switzerland. The pitches felt generous, the facilities were excellent and the setting made it easy to settle in for longer. We loved the nearby walking routes, the stream running close to the site and how easy it was to use the campsite as a base for cycling and exploring the wider region.
Interlaken works brilliantly if you want a destination that feels adventurous but still practical. You can spend the day chasing waterfalls, heading into mountain villages or simply soaking up the views, then return to a campsite that genuinely feels comfortable at the end of the day.
